Crappie

The crappie are on the move from the river channel to the creeks in preparation for the spawn. They are scattered from the deep water up to 2 foot deep near the banks. I have found that most of the fish are in about 12 to 18 foot of water suspended from 2 to 12 foot down from the surface. 1/8 oz. jigs in white, chartruce, and grey are all good on different days with different wave and light conditions. Catches of 30 to 50 keepers are about the normal daily catch. When the bite is real slow I have had to resort to minnows to keep the bite going. The fish seem to be biting through out the day with the early and late  times of low light being best. Fish seem to move out of deep water as the day progresses and hold in the 8 to12 foot of water along the channels. some fish have been caught as shallow as 2 foot deep in as much water.

White Bass

Schools of whites are making the annual spawning run up the river. The sand bars and creeks along the river channel are loading up with white bass as big as they grow. Jigging spoons, tailspins, rattletraps, jigs, and small crank baits are all working just as well depending on the depth the fish are at. I have found fish from 20 up to 2 foot deep on the river itself. Action seems to pick up during the day and peak just before sunset. No problem filling your limit of whites any day weather permits.

Black Bass

Bass are shallow on the north end of the lake right now. Some fish on  lizards and worms on the banks in the backs of creeks. Points near deep water and "swags" or deeper water on shallow flats have held the best size fish. I have had good luck on spinner baits, rattletraps, and Carolina rigs.

Good luck!!
