Wildlife Observation
The diverse wildlife of the East Texas region surrounding the lodge may be observed in a few different ways. Many of the animals and birds can be seen along the country roads as you drive through the rolling hills and piney woods. A closer and undetected view may be had while walking along the trails and old abandon logging roads in the Sabine National Forest. There is plenty of space and opportunities to discover in the forest adjacent to Toledo Bend Reservoir. You may want to explore some of the backwaters reaching into the national forest by boat. The North Toledo Bend Wildlife Management Area located a few miles from the lodge offers wildlife viewing at it’s best. Seemingly endless miles of waters edge are perfect habitat for the animals and birds that make this area their home. Wildlife you may expect to see on a excursion include; whitetail deer, fox, coyote, feral hog, raccoon, opossum, red ∓ gray squirrel, a large and varied list of birds, and also just about every insect, including most butterflies native to North America. Take the time to get out with your family or friends and experience the abundance of nature and wildlife.
